Meet some of our people

As team leader for transformational technology into financial services, Adam is responsible for account managing our current Singapore and Hong Kong-based investment banking clients whilst trying to expand the offering outside of capital markets. "My job is to ensure the team delivers against roles and has the necessary skills to capitalise on the busy market as quickly as possible."

Adam joined Hydrogen as a resourcer in June 2009, focusing on Business Technology into the Singapore FS market. He had been working as an account manager for a small IT recruitment company in Southampton which he joined after graduating and which he describes as having "the worst commission scheme I have ever come across!"

Even then, Adam knew that he wanted to get out of the UK and he was attracted by Hydrogen's plans to expand internationally. "From the outset they backed me to help start up Singapore. I also liked that, although Hydrogen wasn't a small firm, it hadn't grown to the size where you are just a number."

Adam was promoted to consultant within six months and relocated to Singapore in January 2010 where he quickly progressed from senior consultant to team leader. During this time he landed what he considers the biggest achievement of his career, "Turning a Tier One Investment Bank from a client who described us as "nice to do business with but don't fill many roles" roles into a key account where we are number one supplier for 2011.

It's important to Adam that the money he earns is in his control - "what I put in is what I get out" – and describes the culture as inclusive where hard work is rewarded. "We've created an environment that is fun to work in and a level of banter that is used to drive activity."

He interacts with a range of individuals and believes that he's learning more, faster at Hydrogen than he would in another job. "The best thing is seeing a business plan start to come together and see everyone benefiting from it."

Ever focused, Adam's day is divided into building and strengthening candidate relationships and business development. "Each day I make sure that we are turning around roles coming in from our key clients, ensuring I am in front of them so they come to me first."

If he wasn't working for us, Adam thinks he'd probably be running a bar on a beach in Thailand! But for the time being, his focus will remain on creating leaders to run our new offerings in Singapore so that he can move into an MTO role and help turn the Singapore office into a multi-million dollar business.
