This person will be responsible for the execution of strategic plans to obtain scientifically rigorous estimates of disease incidence, prevalence and population size for Disease areas across the portfolio, globally. The responsibilities include marketed and pipeline disease areas as well as disease areas in earlier stages of R&D, to inform commercial opportunity/assumptions & forecasting, clinical trial planning, long-range plan, and business development activities.

You will execute systematic literature reviews, database/disease registry studies, primary observational studies, etc to ensure scientifically rigorous estimates of disease incidence, prevalence, and population size. You will collaborate with key cross-functional partners in medical, commercial, clinical, research and business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead systematic literature reviews, database/disease registry studies, and primary observational studies to generate quality prevalence and incidence data in key markets for the company's priority disease areas
  • Lead cross-functional teams to align epidemiologic estimates, responsibilities span across a range of disease and geographic areas
  • Support internal processes for alignment of strategic plans and recommended approach/level of investment (e.g. systematic literature reviews, database/disease registry studies, primary observational studies etc.) at each stage of development to ensure quality Epidemiology deliverable meet the needs of the organization
  • Maintain epidemiology dashboards for cross-functional stakeholder use
  • Maintain systems and processes to support ongoing epidemiology updates and incorporation of novel information
  • Provide epidemiology perspective to business development and research teams to appropriately inform population size
  • Represent Epidemiology perspective during interactions with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop innovative solutions to ensure the organization has the relevant epidemiologic information, particularly where existing literature and/or data are sparse

Key Requirements:

  • PhD/DSc/DrPH in Epidemiology or related discipline with 6+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical or consulting environment or MPH/MSc with at least 8 years' experience
  • Directly relevant experience in:
    • Executing research to generate scientifically rigorous epidemiologic estimates, including systematic literature reviews, database/disease registry studies, primary observational studies, and clinical engagements with strong publication history in observational research
    • Supporting population sizing activities across research, business development and long-range planning
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced matrixed environment, and navigate multiple competing priorities
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a keen ability to translate complex data into digestible information
  • Flexible, "outside the box" thinker who embodies a collaborative approach that embraces diverse perspectives
  • Culturally sensitive collaborator able to effectively lead cross-functional teams to drive alignment with business and stakeholder needs while managing to timelines and budgets
  • Experience in rare disease is a plus
