The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, detail oriented, work independently, and be comfortable presenting results to cross-functional teams.

  • Design and clone expression constructs
  • Screen constructs for protein expression, solubility, and monodispersity
  • Purify proteins for use in structural determination by X-ray crystallography or cryo-EM
  • Screen proteins for crystallization
  • Optimize crystallization conditions and harvest crystals

  • BS/MS in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, biophysics, chemical biology, or a related discipline with 0-2 years of experience working in an industry setting
  • Experience with molecular cloning techniques such as PCR, DNA electrophoresis, restriction digest plasmid purification, site-directed mutagenesis and bacteria transformation

  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with the following is a bonus:
    • Experience with automated crystallization screening using a Mosquito Xtal3 or similar robot
    • Experience with protein crystal optimization, cryo-protection, and harvesting
    • Prior experience with protein visualization software such as PyMOL or Chimera
    • Prior experience using Benchling or another electronic notebook to record data
