Position: Senior Test Support Engineer (Unix)

Duration:6 months

Day rate: £442 p/d via umbrella

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Execute Unix components within integrated test environments.
  • Define and uphold processes for:
    • Building Unix environments
    • Deploying project deliverables
    • Supporting Test Environments
    • Continuously improving Unix environment installation, internal tools and processes, configuration, and application deployment procedures
  • Collaborate with Engineering Rooms and Service Provision teams to establish best practices within the technical domain.
  • Perform initial diagnosis of environment issues and drive their resolution.
  • Manage risks and issues, providing support for identification and resolution.
  • Coordinate with Technical Delivery Lead, Engineering Rooms, and Service Provision to fulfill resource/support needs for environment support activities as appropriate.
  • Compile and present metrics to the Technical Delivery Lead.
  • Possess knowledge of IBM Websphere components such as cells, deployment managers, application servers, and clusters, which is advantageous.

Generic Responsibilities:

  • Establish application setups and take ownership of the environment.
  • Deploy custom code and data efficiently.
  • Perform application maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
  • Conduct Technical Shakedown processes.
  • Provide support to projects.
  • Participate in building and configuring environments.
  • Execute backup and restore procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Generate weekly metric reports and manage timelines.
  • Manage user access within environments.
  • Handle environment administration tasks.
  • Review inputs from projects.
  • Resolve environment defects at the first level.
  • Identify and escalate potential risks and issues.
  • Set up and execute EMERald tasks for deploying Projects and maintaining EMER environments.
