SCADA Project Manager

Location: Remote (up to 50% travel required to Juno Beach, FL site)

Schedule: Standard Office Hours

Duration: 12-Month Contract

Pay Rate Range:$53 – $65 per hour

Reports To: Sr. SCADA Commissioning Manager


Job Overview

Work on behalf of one of the world’s largest renewable energy developers and builders as SCADA Project Manager. This role supervises and supports SCADA software development, hardware start-up, commissioning, programming, and testing to control renewable photovoltaic and battery storage power plants.

The SCADA Project Manager is responsible for overall project management, integration, and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with budgetary, scheduling, quality, and safety objectives. This position requires collaboration with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver successful renewable energy projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage SCADA-related activities, including integration, programming, commissioning, and testing of power plant SCADA systems and RTUs.
  • Oversee SCADA hardware start-up, commissioning, and software development for renewable PV and energy storage plants.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction oversight to ensure projects meet corporate objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with in-house resources, consultants, EPCs, and sub-suppliers to define project priorities, schedules, and work plans.
  • Review and approve SCADA engineering designs, drawings, OEM specifications, and installed equipment for compliance with design standards.
  • Manage walk-downs of planned work, validate acceptance of completed work, and approve contractor/vendor payment requests.
  • Lead project meetings, review budgets, schedules, risk trackers, and contingency allocations.
  • Monitor constructability, resource allocation, and field status while resolving issues as needed.
  • Supervise or coordinate project-related activities across safety, engineering, construction, budget, contracts, and commissioning.
  • Ensure projects are implemented efficiently, effectively, and safely in accordance with company policies.
  • Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports to management.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation Systems, or equivalent field, with extensive SCADA-related experience.
  • 8+ years’ experience in renewable SCADA systems and commissioning within power plants.
  • Strong project management background with experience coordinating multiple vendors, consultants, and EPC contractors.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge

  • Commissioning and integration of SCADA systems.
  • SCADA and control system architecture, PLC programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of automation protocols: Modbus, DNP3, CAN, OPC, EtherNet/IP, etc.
  • Familiarity with Ignition, OPC servers, and SCADA historian.
  • Understanding of AC/DC circuits, 0–10V and 4–20mA loops, and related troubleshooting.
  • Experience with RTUs, utility meters, substation RTACs, and protection relays.
  • Knowledge of networking equipment (Hirschmann, MOXA, Cisco, etc.), managed switches, cybersecurity, and firewalls.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, communications, SCADA, and networking schematics and drawings.
  • Strong scheduling, planning, and reporting abilities.
  • Experience with third-party firm management.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs frequently.
  • Extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, or working at a computer.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle to commute between job sites.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as required.
