The Assistant GIS Specialist will work closely within functional teams to deliver GIS data and GIS services to our clients, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, customer commitment, sense of urgency, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

· Support Client needs as directed

· Data mining detailed information from archive documents

· Converting MicroStation to AutoCAD

· Scanning printed drawings and maps for conversion into electronic formatting

· Support project managers, design engineers, environmental consultants, GIS mapping specialists.

· Efficient at working independently as well as in team environment

· Assist in updating of new and existing GIS maps and map layers. using ArcGIS in support of the utility network

· GIS metadata creation.

· Perform data research from various sources

· Perform georeferencing of raster and vector data.

Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in GIS or related field of study preferred but not required

· Experience working in the ArcGIS desktop environment is preferred but not required (ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 or higher is a plus).

· Experience working with MicroStation to AutoCAD preferred but not required

· Basic GIS skills, including data analysis abilities.

· Prior GPS and applicable natural science field experience a plus

· Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.

· Utilize various software packages and information from various sources (MS Access databases, MS Excel spreadsheets and documents such as deeds, field notes etc.)

· Proficient in working with Google Earth, PDF viewer/editing programs, spreadsheets and other task tracking software preferred but not required
