Job Title: Business Intelligence Analyst

Location: West Midlands/Remote

Salary - 45-55k + 10% bonus + 10% store discount + 28 days A/L

Job Description:

To work as a member of the Business Information Team, providing data related solutions and expertise on a range of business as usual and project activities across the Retail businesses.

This will involve engaging and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from every function with the business to understand their requirements, develop and test solutions, and support implementation during and post go live.

  • Other Business Intelligence Analysts

  • Business Stakeholders

Responsibilities:

Data Modelling and Development

  • Develop new and maintain existing BI reports, dashboards and data extracts using primarily Microsoft technologies
  • Utilise in depth technical skills to propose and implement BI process improvements, efficiencies and upgrades in conjunction with the rest of the BI team
  • Develop an understanding of business processes and data flows to contribute to the IT shared knowledge base and provide technical advice and guidance to both IT colleagues and the wider business
  • Aid in the documentation and planning of agreed project work
  • Communicate clearly, concisely and professionally with all levels of the business

Data Management

  • Contribute to the overall data strategy by enforcing consistent standards, documentation and methodologies are used
  • Provide support to other colleagues, both internal to IT and the wider business in utilising the data sources provided to self-serve and extract data effectively and consistently
  • Show an awareness of how to deal with sensitive or proprietary information in a secure manner

Analytics and Data Visualisation

  • Evaluate the need for analytics, assesses the problems to be solved and what internal or external data sources to use or acquire. Communicate results using visualisation methods appropriate to the target audience
  • Apply standard analysis methods to ensure data produced can be easily compared
  • Contribute to the development of analytics policy, standards and guidelines.

Need to know:

Complete Microsoft database suite

  • SQL Server
  • SQL Reporting Services
  • SQL Analysis Services - Tabular desirable
  • SQL Integration Services

Dashboard and analytics platforms

  • Power BI desirable

Need to be:

  • Able to pick up new concepts and technologies
  • Comfortable with communicating to both IT and non-IT staff and able to mentor more junior colleagues
  • Able to work under their own initiative
  • Enthusiastic to drive ideas and look for new ways of doing things
