Controls Implementation Manager
ISQM1 is a new standard which requires the business to have a system of quality management in place to ensure the Firm and our personnel fulfil requirements with the required frameworks and that reports produced are appropriate in the circumstances. ISQM 1 is viewed as an opportunity to improve our quality management systems to support consistently high audit quality.
compared to the previous standard ISQM requires a proactive (rather than reactive) approach and links the various elements to create a holistic system. ISQM 1 needs to be designed and implemented by end of year 2022; monitoring (i.e. testing) and conclusions on the system of quality management need to be performed in 2023.
Stage one is to identify the quality risks that are present for each of the eight components and then document the related responses. Your role will be to take the high level responses as drafted by the Project Director and establish the detailed controls that are in place and in so doing create a full documentation trail. Beyond this you will work with the Project Director to evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of the control.
Stage two of the project (most likely commencing mid 2022) will be to implement a monitoring process. This will include you undertaking testing as part of the role.
This is an interesting project and would particularly suit someone with an interest in understanding how quality is maintained across audit and assurance services and will provide exposure to a variety of service lines and the leadership thereof.
Key elements of the role:
· Design of controls through review of existing documentation
· Establish and maintain comprehensive Risk and Control Matrices
· Identification of gaps in the current control structure and suggestions for remediation
· Evaluating design and implementation of controls
· Periodic testing of controls
· Contributing to the development of an ongoing compliance function for ISQM1
· Liaison with key stakeholders to gain buy in to the System of Quality Management
Experience working in a controls environment (Financial / Professional Services)
Experience in designing effective controls and assessing the ongoing operating effectiveness
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proficient in MS Office
Exhibit creativity and innovation in recommending improvements to practices and processes
