Oncology External Communications Manager

Outside of IR35 6 Month Initial Contract

Based fully remotely but ideal to return to site part-time in Luton in the future

The OBU External Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing external brand communication strategies for our clients UK's Oncology portfolio, in line with in line with business priorities and appropriate marketing strategies. This role works closely with Communications, Policy & Advocacy, and Government Affairs colleagues to enhance the company's ability to innovate, launch new medicines and improve patient outcomes in the UK.

Day to day -

  • Lead on the development and delivery of insight-based, creative external communication activities that deliver against business objectives, enhance brand reputation and maximise return on investment
  • Curate an understanding of the clients wider environment, to enable external communications to help tackle challenges in line with business objectives
  • Build internal relationships where needed and provide expert advice and counsel on communications needs/opportunities
  • Develop a variety of communications tools and assets that resonate with target audiences, with a focus on creativity and simplifying complex information where required
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders including healthcare professionals, patient groups and patients
  • Support on issues management and lead on specific projects when required
  • Work with third party agencies when needed, maintaining an effective working relationship, completing projects on time and on budget
  • Be a flexible team player as part of a busy external communications function
  • Ensure all activities are of the highest standard and in line with industry regulations and clients policies
  • Maintain expertise in internal communications to ensure flexibility of skills within the team

Ideal Experience -

  • 8+ years working in the healthcare/pharma communications field (SAM/AD level in agency)
  • Proven ability of influencing colleagues and senior leaders across organisations
  • "Self-starter" with evidence of capability for matrix and cross-functional working
  • Ability to utilise channels for business benefit within resource limits
  • Can effectively delegate and manage 3rd parties to deliver outputs
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise accordingly
  • Pharmaceutical Industry Experience
  • Relevant vocational qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of NHS Policy and the UK political landscape and processes
  • UK experience
  • Understanding of ABPI code
