Head of Threat Intelligence

£110,000 - £130,000 per annum.

Hybrid/Glasgow or Newcastle office

Role Description

Reporting directly to the CISO & Head of Technology Operations, the Head of Cyber Threat Intelligence, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our organization against cyber threats by leading and managing a dynamic team of threat intelligence analysts.


1. Strategic Leadership:

· Develop and execute a comprehensive cyber threat intelligence strategy aligned with organizational goals.

· Provide strategic direction for the team, ensuring a proactive and forward-looking approach to threat detection and response.

2. Team Management:

· Lead, mentor, and manage a team of threat intelligence analysts, fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment.

· Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of team members to enhance their capabilities and expertise.

3. Threat Assessment and Analysis:

· Conduct in-depth analysis of cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents to provide timely and accurate intelligence reports.

· Collaborate with internal teams to assess the potential impact of identified threats on the organization's systems, infrastructure, and data.

4. Information Sharing and Collaboration:

· Establish and maintain relationships with external threat intelligence sharing communities, industry peers, and law enforcement agencies.

· Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as IT, security operations, and risk management, to enhance overall cybersecurity resilience.

5. Technology and Tools Management:

· Work with the Cyber Strategy and Engineering function to evaluate, implement, and manage cutting-edge threat intelligence technologies and tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

· Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in the cybersecurity landscape.

6. Incident Response Support:

· Provide guidance and support during cyber incidents, working closely with incident response teams to contain, eradicate, and recover from threats.

· Contribute to the development and improvement of incident response plans and playbooks.

7. Policy and Compliance:

· Ensure adherence to cybersecurity policies, standards, and regulatory requirements related to threat intelligence.

· Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address any legal or regulatory implications related to cyber threats.

Continuous Improvement:

· Regularly assess and enhance the organization's threat intelligence capabilities through feedback, metrics, and lessons learned from incidents.

· Drive a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the cyber threat intelligence team.


· Proven experience in a leadership role within cyber threat intelligence.

· In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threat landscapes, and intelligence methodologies.

· Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex threat intelligence information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

· Familiarity with typical cybersecurity policies, standards, and regulatory requirements related to threat intelligence for Financial Institutions.

· Familiarity with industry-standard threat intelligence platforms and tools.

· Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CTI certifications are preferred.
