Hydrogen Group are currently looking for an IT Network Engineer to work for a large nationwide company. The role is a remote role but would require travel to the sites of the company. This role is a FTC role for 12 months, however there is a chance that it will go permanent after the 12 months.

The IT Network Engineer is accountable for analysing, solutioning, managing and deploying network-based technologies across the company, in order to effectively support the group's current and future networking requirements, working with both internal support teams and strategic delivery partners, to ultimately provide a robust platform to underpin the organisation's infrastructure, application and growing requirements.

Key accountabilities

· A core part of the role will be to deliver a future technology roadmap for data networks, including ongoing refresh and enhancements of the company's network connectivity in line with Enterprise Architectural standards and future technology direction

· Act as subject Matter Expert (SME) for data network technologies support/design and work requests involving data networks

· Produce effective network and infrastructure design input and documentation

· Provide an escalation point, input into Problem Management, and support any required remedial action for network technologies

· Provide input and ongoing technical competence focus for improving the technical capability of the team with regard to networking technologies

· Provide networking point of contact for partners relating to network technologies

· Provide on-site UK engineer capability for Head office and regional sites where required, either in person or working with strategic partners

· Work with Head of IT Infrastructure & Operations to ensure KPIs and SLAs related to network services and the services they support are met

· Manages, maintains and develops the networking technologies and systems that underpin the organisation's shared services infrastructure across a mix of on-premise and cloud-based environments. This includes the CVS core switching, routing, WIFI, WAN, LAN and perimeter network environments.

Essential Knowledge & Experience

· Proven experience in delivering enterprise wide data network technologies

· Proven experience in contributing to network strategy and design activity for transformational network projects

· Experience in designing, delivering and maintaining hosted and VOIP telephony environments

· Demonstrable experience in working as a senior technical networking expert

· Has proven experience delivering MPLS and SD-WAN based networks in a complex, multi-site environment

· Demonstrable experience in utilising a variety of network performance/troubleshooting technologies to gain key insights into application, system and infrastructure behaviour in order to deliver best in class services across a complex multi-site organisation

Essential Functional / Technical Skills

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualifications and experience essential:

· Cisco CCNA essential

· Experience working with a wide range of networking routing, switching and wireless technologies, specifically Cisco, Meraki and HP technologies

· Experience in designing, deploying and maintaining managed WAN, LAN and Cloud-based networks and the utilisation of VLANs, QoS, CoS to assist in the delivery of high-performing IT services to an organisation

· Deep understanding of the fundamentals of the Internet and its structure e.g. DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, DMVPN, BGP, EIGRP

· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond flexibly and with agility in challenging situations, with a 'can-do' attitude & willingness to be 'hands-on' when required

· Excellent written and verbal communication, to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in different levels of an organisation, and sharp attention to detail in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation and other support information

· Experience working in an ITIL based service delivery team an advantage
