Job Title: Programme Manager

Location: Welwyn Gardens City, Hertfordshire, UK

Contract Duration: 6 Month Initial

Work Pattern: Hybrid, 3 Days On Site, 2 Days Remote

Rate: c. £1,000 inside IR35

Job Description:

You will be part of a small Programme team within the wider Centre of Excellence and will be expected to work on a broad range of projects that may touch all areas of the organisation. You will undertake these responsibilities, managing a team of project managers on a £100m finance transformation project. You will manage large scale, complex programmes of work to deliver transformational change and benefits to the business. The main aim of the programme is updating the Target Operating Model of a global FMCG retailer across areas of finance.

Your duties:

  • Setting up and attending governance forums with support by engaging key sponsors and subject matter experts
  • Managing key stakeholders and dependencies to establish ways of work and alignment of approaches
  • Producing the initial project plan, subsequently tracking and reporting progress to the governance forum
  • Setting up project/team budgeting, planning any deliverable creation processes, to ensure expectations are clearly established and standards followed
  • Delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Capturing lessons learned in conjunction with team members and other key stakeholders
  • Engaging key stakeholders within and outside of governance forums and communicating the progress
  • Delivering the programme outcomes, as indicated in the programme business case, whilst managing trade-offs across the whole programme or interlinked projects
  • Working with the Resourcing Manager to source and flex resources across the programme and against programme budget to meet priorities
  • Establishing clear direction, accountabilities, and deliverable expectations for the programme leadership team (incl. - Programme Management Office and interlinked Project Managers)
  • Forecasting and managing budgets effectively, always being cost conscious
  • Working alongside Change Management and Technology to ensure successful planning and delivery

Essential Qualities and Experience:

  • Knowledge and track record in business transformation programmes/ projects
  • Ability to manage programmes remotely, either in house or through outsourcers
  • Ability to commute to Hertfordshire
  • Proven track record of handling or managing projects including the appropriate management methodologies and techniques
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience of influencing senior level stakeholders
  • Ability to work positively with the wide range of individuals involved in the projects/ programmes
  • Strong leadership and management skills, able to create a sense of community amongst the members of the projects

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Have experience in large transformational change
  • Have experience with implementing a new Target Operating Model across areas of finance
  • Come from a retail background with extensive contracting work in fashion, travel, FMCG, etc.
