Pay: $50 + DOE

Our client currently maintains a team of individuals managing a variety of projects for the Chicago electric utility (ComEd). With the current and anticipated upcoming workload, we are in need of expanding that team by adding an experienced Project Manager.

This role will be focused on supporting a variety of projects ranging from transmission, distribution, substation, and fiber construction.

Keys to this role will be:

Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to manage multiple stakeholders, ability to self-start when project conditions change and lead the team to a solution, ability to understand and follow the client's process and procedures for budget authorizations, budget management, scope awards, outage coordination, labor utilization, etc.

The role will be based in Chicago with local travel to project sites in northern Illinois. Assignment to start January 2022 with a year commitment that likely can be extended if performance warrants. The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical engineering, civil engineering or construction management and will have 10 years of experience. Working with or for ComEd or another Exelon Utility a plus.

Daily responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of several engineering disciplines on engineering construction projects. Plan, organize and direct engineering project(s); including, the overall safety, cost, schedule and quality of assigned projects.

* Ensure that the project review process and other quality control guidelines are followed.

* Consult and assist clients with concepts and designs.

* Provide managerial direction and work assignments to telecommunication & network engineering project managers.

* Establish project teams, coordinate activities of multiple disciplines, ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.

* Provide performance feedback to department managers for project team members as appropriate.

* Demonstrate creativity, foresight and judgment in anticipating and solving problems.

* Establish and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients.

* Identify opportunities and manage team efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation, and related activities.

* Write articles and/or make conference presentations for marketing purposes.

* All other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited program. Minimum 7 years related experience in design engineering, including 3 years or more project management experience in the utilities, power & construction industry.

* Previous consulting engineering experience is preferred. An advanced degree and/or professional designations (Professional Engineer license) is desirable.

* Broad knowledge of electrical engineering.

* Proven ability to develop business and establish relationships with clients.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* The ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.

* Demonstrated success in project management.

* Proficiency in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
