Summary

We're looking for a highly motivated individual to join our protein sciences team. The role is focused on supporting experimental structural determination of proteins. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, detail oriented, work independently, and be comfortable presenting results to cross-functional teams.




Responsibilities

  • Design and clone expression constructs
  • Screen constructs for protein expression, solubility, and monodispersity
  • Purify proteins for use in structural determination by X-ray crystallography or cryo-EM
  • Screen proteins for crystallization
  • Optimize crystallization conditions and harvest crystals

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, biophysics, chemical biology, or a related discipline with 0-2 years of experience working in an industry setting
  • Experience with molecular cloning techniques such as PCR, DNA electrophoresis, restriction digest plasmid purification, site-directed mutagenesis and bacteria transformation
  • Experience using an AKTA FPLC and several chromatography procedures such as affinity, ion exchange, and gel filtration
  • Experience with handling proteins including concentration, aliquoting, freezing, and storing for long term use
  • Experience with SDS-PAGE and western blots
  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with the following is a bonus:
    • Experience with automated crystallization screening using a Mosquito Xtal3 or similar robot
    • Experience with protein crystal optimization, cryo-protection, and harvesting
    • Prior experience with protein visualization software such as PyMOL or Chimera
    • Prior experience using Benchling or another electronic notebook to record data
