Sr Scientist - Analytical Development

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, passionate, accomplished Senior Scientist with expertise in separations to join our Analytical Development team. You will develop analytical methods and characterize therapeutic proteins expressed in our proprietary E. coli expression system. You will explore new and innovative analytical technologies, and train and mentor junior personnel. You will collaborate within your team and with other teams to improve internal platforms and deliver on partner cell line development and drug discovery projects. You bring strong written and verbal communication skills, a passion for good science, a keen sense of detail and a drive for urgency. You thrive in a team-oriented, high-performance culture.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and internal resource in analytical separations (e.g. HPLC/UHPLC and electrophoresis), supporting sample testing, method development and optimization, equipment operation and troubleshooting
  • Evaluate and onboard new technologies and platforms
  • Train, mentor, and inspire junior team members
  • Write and review key technical documents, including SOPs and technical reports
  • Work collaboratively across all teams to deliver on internal and partner projects
  • Present key findings to internal and external audiences
  • Document and curate all work and data using online tools

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline and four or more years of industry experience in protein analytical method development OR Master's with equivalent experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience with analytical protein separation methods, including liquid chromatography (e.g. LC-UV, SEC, IEX, RP) and capillary electrophoresis (e.g. CE-SDS, icIEF)
  • Experience in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of associated instrumentation
  • Excellent experimental design, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Versed in data analysis and visualization tools

Additional preferred qualifications (desirable but not required)

  • Experience with high-throughput and automation methods and hardware
  • Experience with analysis of proteins produced in microbial systems
  • Experience using data analysis, LIMS, and electronic lab notebook software
  • Management experience
