Enhancing our recruitment consultants’ skills is a key feature at Hydrogen. Providing our consultants with the right tools to deliver successful results, for both themselves and the business, is a responsibility that our learning and development team takes seriously. Therefore, John Dave Ng, Head of Learning and Development in APAC, has devised a bespoke training workshop that explores the ‘Five Pillars of Leadership’.
Taking place bi-monthly, the workshop is divided into five aspects of leadership:
˃ personal capability (coaching)
˃ interpersonal skills
˃ leading change
˃ focus on results
Our current team leaders understand that strong leadership is critical to boost staff morale, create high productivity and maintain a low turnover. In spite of their experience, the workshops are attended by all senior management in our Singapore office, including Chief Operating Officer, Simon Walker. Speaking about the workshop, Simon said, “As a company, it’s our responsibility to help our team leaders to better manage their staff by understanding individual’s behavioural traits, identifying which learning tools helps staff to develop faster and advising on how best to utilise their skills.”

Additionally, the workshop explores the importance of building trust between a team leader and their team. Factors such as transparency and not over-promising are key to setting expectations and building creditability amongst peers. Once trust is established, team members will rightly feel respected; resulting in better productivity and quality of work from all included parties.
