POSITION SUMMARY
Our client, a leading energy organization operating across the Western United States, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager / Owner's Representative to support pre-construction and construction oversight activities on large-scale transmission and generation tie projects in Southern Nevada.
The successful candidate will be responsible for contractor monitoring and oversight across assigned work packages, with a primary focus on route development and refinement, field verification activities, and overall pre-construction preparation. A functional understanding of routing criteria — encompassing cost, engineering constraints, and common environmental considerations — is expected.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee project buildout to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards throughout all phases of construction
- Lead communication and coordination with contractors, supervisors, management, and other project stakeholders
- Manage and maintain construction schedules, proactively identifying and escalating risks to delivery
- Ensure full safety compliance across all contractor and on-site activities
- Oversee quality control and quality assurance processes to confirm work meets applicable design requirements and standards
- Prepare and distribute project updates and reports in line with client requirements
- Provide broad project support for all construction-related activities as directed by leadership
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Contractor and Project Management team
- Provide environmental oversight in accordance with permit conditions and regulatory requirements
- Support route refinement activities, applying value engineering or equivalent methodologies to optimize criteria ahead of permitting and late-stage pre-construction activities
- Conduct routing and siting tradeoff assessments in conditions of uncertainty, evaluating risks with input from subject matter experts across Engineering, Environmental, Legal, Development, and Land
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will be considered
- Demonstrable experience managing and overseeing large-scale construction projects, including generation tie and transmission infrastructure
- Extensive background in high-level project decision-making, risk mitigation, and construction leadership within a heavily regulated environment
- Proven experience in late-stage pre-construction activities, including route refinement and permitting preparation
- Willingness and ability to travel within the US approximately 25% of the time
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Strong working knowledge of routing criteria development across functions including cost, engineering, and environmental constraints
- Experience performing routing and siting tradeoff decisions in the presence of uncertainty, with the ability to identify, evaluate, and communicate routing risks
- Ability to engage and collaborate with cross-functional subject matter experts including Engineering & Construction, Environmental Services, Legal, Development, and Land
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated comfort presenting risks and recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Equally comfortable operating at a detailed, task level and maintaining a clear view of overall project objectives and priorities
- Ability to problem-solve effectively within complex, highly regulated permitting and construction environments
