Title: Construction Manager II
Location: McCamey, TX
Pay Rate:$47.00 - $52.00/hour/hour
Schedule: Standard Office Hours
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Position Summary
This role is responsible for overseeing construction activities with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and coordination across engineering, EPC contractors, and stakeholders. The position supports construction execution through commissioning and energization while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize and enforce safety protocols on the job site in compliance with regulatory and industry standards
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of company policies and procedures
- Coordinate with engineers, EPC partners, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project execution
- Perform inspections, audits, and maintain QA/QC documentation to ensure construction quality and adherence to specifications
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with team members and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
- Keep detailed records of construction activities, progress reports, and safety inspections
- Lead and manage construction activities, including task monitoring, feedback delivery, and conflict resolution
- Interpret and apply electrical schematics, mechanical, civil, and structural steel drawings
- Identify, assess, and mitigate construction and safety risks
- Troubleshoot and resolve construction-related issues to keep projects on schedule
- Oversee concrete and civil work, including flat foundations, drill piers, breaker pads, GSU containment pits
- Collaborate with EPC teams to resolve Requests for Information (RFIs) and change orders
- Support material procurement activities, including material take-offs
- Participate in post-project reviews, documenting lessons learned and improvement opportunities
- Safely work in proximity to equipment energized at hazardous voltage levels
- Lift and transport tools, equipment, and materials across uneven and potentially hazardous terrain
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Promote open communication with direct reports to strengthen teamwork and issue resolution
- Utilize computer software effectively, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Project) and construction-related systems
- Support turnover activities and commissioning efforts through project energization
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of construction safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills
- Proven leadership and team coordination capabilities
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in active construction environments
- Proficiency with standard computer applications and construction-related software
Education & Experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 6–10 years of experience in power generation or power plant construction/commissioning
- Experience working with EPC contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers
