Job Title: Data Protection Engineer
Overview:
Seeking a Data Protection Engineer to strengthen the client's cybersecurity program by leading hands-on efforts in data safeguarding, automation, and tool development. This position is pivotal in protecting sensitive data across email, endpoints, and core business systems while advancing proactive protection initiatives in line with the client's security vision.
What You’ll Do:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain data protection technologies to ensure effective and resilient security controls.
- Design and enforce policies for data loss prevention (DLP), including scanning systems for sensitive data and identifying risks.
- Investigate and respond to data protection incidents, including urgent response actions to secure systems and maintain operations.
- Build integrations between data protection platforms and other security systems using custom scripts, APIs, and orchestration tools.
- Conduct regular reviews of data security measures, adapting to emerging threats and aligning with enterprise security strategy.
- Lead data discovery and classification projects to ensure appropriate handling of sensitive and regulated data.
- Support the deployment of adaptive access controls and ensure adherence to Rivian’s internal data security standards.
- Partner with business stakeholders to assess data sensitivity and tailor protection strategies that enable secure operations.
- Collaborate across IT, Legal, Privacy, and Cybersecurity teams to align tactical efforts with strategic data protection goals.
What We’re Looking For:
- Demonstrated experience with DLP tools and implementing data protection policies in enterprise environments.
- Proficient in scripting languages like Python or Bash to automate tasks and enhance system integrations.
- Skilled in building and managing tool integrations through RESTful APIs and orchestrating workflows for scalable security operations.
- In-depth understanding of email and endpoint security, including configuration and monitoring of protection platforms.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code solutions (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to automate deployment of security configurations.
- Solid grasp of CI/CD practices and version control tools such as Git for maintaining secure development pipelines.
