Position Summary
This role supports the overall management of assigned projects to ensure compliance with budget, schedule, safety, and quality requirements. The position provides on-site and office-based oversight of construction and maintenance activities performed by contractors and vendors, acting as an owner’s representative to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
This is primarily an office-based position with travel to project sites as needed, including support during outages, overhauls, or critical construction phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess contractor productivity, schedule adherence, work quality, and safety performance on assigned projects.
- Participate in pre-construction planning and field walkdowns; verify acceptance of completed work against design and contractual requirements.
- Review and validate contractor payment applications and work progress.
- Verify constructability, confirm appropriate resource allocation, assess field conditions, and resolve execution issues as required.
- Coordinate project activities with contractors, suppliers, regulatory agencies, landowners, and local/community stakeholders.
- Support scope control, budget oversight, schedule tracking, performance reporting, and resolution of technical issues.
- Reinforce expectations related to safety, procedural compliance, corrective actions, lessons learned, and professional work behaviors for both employees and contractor personnel.
- Coordinate with internal groups including safety, engineering, construction, budgeting, analytics, and contract administration.
- Interface with designated project governance or management committees.
- Assist with risk identification and mitigation, ensuring adherence to approved budgets and optimal use of resources at the site level.
- Prepare for and assist in leading pre-bid and pre-construction meetings; provide regular project status updates to internal stakeholders.
- Supervise planning and execution activities during power plant overhauls or outage events, leading field crews as required.
- Act as the on-site owner’s representative, coordinating vendor execution of contracted work to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Safety & Site Requirements - Complete required site and in-plant clearance training.
- Ability to travel to project sites and support outage or overhaul schedules, including extended or non-standard work hours.
- Ability to work in industrial environments using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Physically capable of climbing structures, accessing turbine decks, entering boilers or confined spaces, and wearing respiratory protection when required.
Required Experience & Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Land Surveying, or a related discipline.
- 11–15 years of experience managing or leading construction or industrial projects, including scope control, scheduling, and compliance.
- Minimum of 7 years of generator maintenance experience within the power generation industry.
- Demonstrated experience supervising contractors and coordinating work across multiple disciplines.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies and diverse stakeholder groups.
Preferred Qualifications - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience supporting renewable energy or power generation projects.
- Familiarity with wind turbine construction, inspections, or major maintenance activities.
