Job Title: Data Scientist – Power Systems

Job Description:
We are seeking a Data Scientist with deep expertise in power systems to support utility operations, grid modernization initiatives, and data-driven engineering efforts. The ideal candidate combines strong data science skills with a solid understanding of electric transmission and distribution systems, enabling them to derive actionable insights that enhance reliability, efficiency, and resiliency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical models to solve complex problems in power system operations, asset management, and grid planning.

  • Analyze large volumes of operational and engineering data ( SCADA, AMI, outage, DER, GIS) to detect patterns, forecast performance, and optimize system behavior.

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and IT teams to identify high-value use cases and deliver practical, data-driven solutions.

  • Leverage domain knowledge in power systems to inform data feature engineering, model interpretation, and stakeholder communication.

  • Support the development of digital twins, grid simulations, and predictive maintenance models.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable analytics pipelines and cloud-based solutions.

  • Present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, translating insights into business recommendations.

  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies, tools, and trends in utility analytics and the energy sector.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field(Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).

  • 7+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied research roles, with at least 3 years in a utility or power systems context.

  • Strong understanding of electric power systems, grid operations, or utility engineering(e.g., load flow, protection, reliability, DER integration).

  • Proficiency in Python, R, or similar tools for data analysis and modeling.

  • Experience with data visualization tools(e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Plotly).

  • Familiarity with SQL and cloud platforms(e.g., Azure, AWS).

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with utility-specific datasets such as SCADA, OMS, AMI, or GIS.

  • Knowledge of utility industry standards, regulatory frameworks, and planning practices.

  • Familiarity with tools like PSS/E, CYME, OpenDSS, or PSCAD.

  • Exposure to real-time analytics, edge computing, or IoT in grid environments.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.

  • A mission-driven culture focused on safety, sustainability, and innovation.

  • Opportunities to work on impactful projects shaping the future of the grid.

  • Professional development and training support.

  • Flexible and hybrid work arrangements.

If you are a data-driven professional with a passion for power systems and utility analytics, we encourage you to apply!
