Senior Electrical Engineer – Automotive Systems (Contract)
Location:
Palo Alto, CA (On-site / Hybrid)
Type:
Contract thru December 2025
Pay Range:$50-65/hr.
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer
to support one of our leading clients in the automotive technology space. This is a hands-on, full life cycle engineering role focused on designing and developing high-performance electronic modules
for next-generation vehicle systems.
You’ll lead the design of complex electronic components and systems—from concept through testing and into mass production—while working alongside cross-functional teams including software, validation, packaging, and manufacturing.
What You’ll Be Doing
Full Product Lifecycle Development
- Lead end-to-end design of automotive electronic modules, including sensors, actuators, video systems, and core computing hardware.
- Own system-level design decisions, guiding component selection and electrical architecture development.
- Translate high-level product requirements into detailed electrical specifications and circuit-level designs.
Component & System Design
- Develop custom electronic hardware to meet rigorous automotive performance and reliability standards.
- Design modules that balance compute performance, thermal efficiency, and durability in harsh environments.
- Collaborate with packaging and CAE teams to ensure designs meet spatial, structural, and endurance requirements.
- Create and maintain detailed design documentation (WCCA, failure analysis, derating reports, test plans, etc.).
Integration & Collaboration
- Work closely with software and integration teams to define hardware/software interfaces and ensure functional compatibility.
- Support systems integration, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues during development and testing.
- Assist with validation processes, making sure designs meet internal quality and industry compliance standards.
Manufacturing & Production Support
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers to ensure designs are production-ready, including review of PFMEAs and key production KPIs.
- Provide engineering support to resolve any issues during production ramp-up or ongoing manufacturing.
What You Bring
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in full lifecycle hardware development.
- Strong background in mixed-signal circuit design.
- Experience with high-speed digital design(e.g., DDR, PCIe, signal and power integrity).
- Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS) and PCB manufacturing processes.
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments.
Preferred:
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts.
- Strong documentation and analysis skills (WCCA, DFMEA, test validation, etc.).
