In this role, you will be involved with the design and specifications for new machinery and equipment for Engineering & Manufacturing sites. You will also be an active participant in equipment acceptance testing and commissioning as well as evaluating proposed changes to equipment and machinery for safety requirements.
Skills/Responsibilities:
- Work with engineering, operations and equipment vendors for design and commissioning activities​
- Develop equipment safety standards where needed and continuously improve existing standards​
- Complete Risk Assessments in accordance with ISO 12100 standards​
- Conduct Equipment Safety Buyoffs with a cross-functional team​
- Identify safety opportunities and suggest corrective actions for continuous improvement ​
- Create and deliver training related to equipment and machinery safety​
- Maintain detailed records of equipment compliance
- Work with department EHS staff to support as needed​
- Participate in learning teams, investigations, inspections, audits, etc. as needed​
Required ​
- Demonstrated familiarity with mechanical, electrical, automation, and control system design
- Experience with ANSI, UL, NFPA, ISO and other applicable standards​
- Experience interpreting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic safety circuits and evaluating performance level & circuit structure ​
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical circuit design in accordance with NEC, UL 508a, and NFPA 79
Preferred ​
- Certified Functional Safety Professional CFSP/CFSE​
- Certified Machine Safety Expert
- Experience in Battery/EV Manufacturing
- Experience with national Standards Development (UL,NFPA,ANSI)
- Working knowledge of hazardous area classifications, occupancy classification, hazardous material inventories
