Job Title: Substation Manager

Location: Jones County, TX

Pay Range:$55.80/ph - $66.00/ph

Schedule: Standard Office Hours

Duration: 12-Month Contract



Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating construction activities at a substation site. You will oversee contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with design and regulatory requirements. This includes monitoring productivity, quality, and budget adherence, while providing leadership to on-site supervisors and ensuring clear communication across all stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce and promote safety standards, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Perform walk downs, inspections, and quality audits to validate adherence to design and specifications.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, contractor payment requests, and project documentation.
  • Resolve construction challenges by applying technical knowledge and coordinating with EPC teams on RFIs and change orders.
  • Oversee material procurement, take-offs, and logistics to support project execution.
  • Support turnover and commissioning activities through project energization.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to supervisors and staff, fostering open communication and team alignment.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, mechanical, civil, and steel structural drawings.
  • Understanding of substation construction, including foundations, drill piers, breaker pads, and containment pits.
  • Proficiency in QA/QC practices and documentation management.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Ability to identify and mitigate construction hazards in high-voltage environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing substation or transmission construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate teams in field construction settings.
