Job Overview
We are seeking an Instructional Designer / Training Specialist
to design, develop, and deliver training solutions that support technical and business projects. The role involves analyzing training needs, creating instructional materials, and managing multiple training projects, ensuring content is effective for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform needs assessments and job/task analyses, including conducting focus groups and collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Research, design, and develop training materials such as PPTs, job aids, user guides, quick reference guides, e-learning, and virtual/instructor-led courses.
- Interpret complex technical project information (e.g., functional specs, test scripts, vendor documentation) into clear training content.
- Manage client expectations and communicate project status updates.
- Conduct SME focus groups/meetings to gather information for training development.
- Present/facilitate train-the-trainer sessions.
- Manage multiple projects, including scope, milestones, schedules, deliverables, and resources.
- Problem-solve, troubleshoot, and mitigate training-related roadblocks.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Business, or technical discipline(or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing and developing systems and/or technical course materials.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; attention to detail.
- Experience applying instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies(e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SnagIt, and at least one e-learning software such as Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, or Camtasia.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; adept at facilitating training sessions.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clients, stakeholders, SMEs, vendors, and team members.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, including scope, milestones, schedules, and deliverables.
- Flexible, adaptable, organized, proactive, and able to work independently.

- Experience working for a utility company.
- Experience using Visio and SharePoint for development.
- Experience developing training as part of an Agile software development project.
