Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will support multiple R&D projects by executing analytical activities focused on protein characterization and recombinant protein manufacturing. Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with sample analysis to generate data for project decision-making alongside senior analytical scientists.
- Perform purification and quality analysis of proteins using techniques such as PrA HPLC, SEC, CE-SDS, and icIEF.
- Prepare solutions, including analytical buffers, media, and feeds as required.
- Conduct monthly mycoplasma testing.
- Maintain laboratory housekeeping including stock checks and instrument calibration.
- Collaborate with multiple R&D teams to deliver solutions or improvements in recombinant protein processes.
- Keep accurate and timely laboratory records to appropriate quality standards.
- Stay updated with relevant academic literature and emerging technologies.
- Contribute ideas to support the development of new methods and analytical approaches.
- 90% of the role is laboratory-based.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Execute analytical assays and purification processes for recombinant proteins.
- Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment with high attention to detail.
- Apply established analytical methods while understanding their strengths and limitations.
- Support method development and optimization under supervision of senior scientists.
- Prepare reagents and solutions required for routine and project-specific analyses.
- Monitor laboratory consumables and equipment functionality.
- Adhere to lab safety protocols and quality standards at all times.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Practical experience in an analytical laboratory focusing on protein characterization.
- Expertise in chromatography and electrophoresis techniques ( PrA HPLC, SEC, CE-SDS) for protein analysis.
- Knowledge of affinity purification techniques.
- Solid understanding of established analytical methods and their applications in the industry.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
- Ability to work independently in a hands-on laboratory environment.
Preferred / Nice to Have:
- Aseptic technique experience
- Experience in solution preparation
- General laboratory equipment maintenance
Education & Experience:
- Degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related scientific discipline.
- Previous laboratory experience in analytical protein characterization is essential.
- Familiarity with recombinant protein workflows and analytical standards is highly desirable.
