Position Summary
Our client is a global medical device manufacturer seeking an Associate Sewer to join its production team in Irvine, CA. This is a hands-on, high-precision role performing microscope-level hand-sewing of delicate biological tissue to assemble implantable medical device components, working to strict quality and cleanroom standards.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform precision sewing tasks under a microscope to build and finish medical device components.
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs.
- Record numbers of units handled and moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
- Attach identifying tags to containers, or mark them with identifying information.
- Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, and containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, and other equipment.
- Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
- Assemble product containers and crates, using hand tools and precut lumber.
- Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers.
- Carry needed tools and supplies from storage or trucks, and return them after use.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 0-2 years experience required.
- Prior sewing experience required.
Knowledge/Skills
- Sewing skills required, including the ability to sew under a microscope.
- Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to fine detail.
- Verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
- Team player and detail oriented.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures to support safe and compliant manufacturing operations.
