Battery Validation Technician

Onsite – Hayward, CA
Pay Range: $35–$41/hr
Contract through March 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM (1-hour unpaid lunch; some flexibility based on business needs)

This is a 100% onsite role. Candidates must have at least 1+ year of relevant experience.


Position Overview:

We are seeking a Battery Validation Technician to support ongoing development and validation efforts within an advanced battery technology lab. In this role, you will work closely with engineering teams to perform material and cell characterization, maintain lab equipment, and assist in building and testing battery prototypes. Ideal candidates will have a background in battery or material science laboratories, strong organizational skills, and a hands-on approach to daily lab operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineers in material and cell analysis; document and report findings.
  • Lead routine laboratory characterization of battery materials and maintain detailed records.
  • Perform battery teardowns while following strict safety protocols.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment to ensure it's ready for use.
  • Monitor lab operations and assist engineers in resolving equipment issues.
  • Support updates and improvements to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in electrode preparation, mixing, and prototype cell builds.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ongoing lab and testing needs.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a technician role within a battery or materials lab.
  • Familiarity with general lab equipment (e.g., microscopes, SEM, FTIR, TGA, XRD). Experience with CT machines is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in battery labs with a focus on safety and equipment upkeep.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage daily workflows and maintain accurate records.
  • Able to work independently and make decisions based on data and observations.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective reporting and teamwork.
