The Buyer is responsible for procuring raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and services required for business operations. This role supports organizational needs by ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant purchasing of goods and services.


Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Review and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, and overall value
  • Identify opportunities to optimize supplier performance and cost efficiency
  • Solicit bid proposals and assess vendor quotations
  • Approve and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies
  • Review requisitions for goods and services

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with internal teams (e.g., manufacturing) to understand material requirements and sourcing options
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to support procurement decisions
  • Communicate with staff, users, and vendors to resolve issues related to defective or unacceptable goods or services

Contracting & Negotiation

  • Support negotiation, renegotiation, and administration of supplier contracts
  • Provide guidance to team members on contract management and supplier interactions
  • Evaluate contract performance and recommend changes where necessary

Operational Execution

  • Ensure timely availability of materials to support production and operations
  • Manage procurement workflows to prevent delays or disruptions
  • Handle high-volume purchasing activities in a coordination-heavy environment
  • Support increased workload alongside team members

Compliance & Quality

  • Operate within a regulated environment, ensuring adherence to applicable standards
  • Support procurement of regulated or product-contact materials
  • Ensure all materials meet quality and regulatory requirements
  • Prevent non-compliant materials from entering production

  • Consistent availability of materials for production
  • No operational disruptions due to supply shortages
  • Full compliance with regulatory and quality standards
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • Negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze financial reports, pricing proposals, and technical data
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles
  • Understanding of purchasing laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

Preferred:

  • Experience in procurement within a regulated industry

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
  • 2–4 years of relevant supply chain or procurement experience
