Cybersecurity Awareness Specialist

The Cybersecurity Awareness Specialist is responsible for delivering and continuously improving the organization’s security awareness and training program. This role focuses on educating employees at all levels on cybersecurity best practices, reducing human risk, and driving measurable improvements through effective training, communication, and reporting.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, critical thinker, and cybersecurity professional who can translate technical concepts into clear, easy-to-understand guidance for non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging cybersecurity awareness and training programs for employees across the organization
- Create and present cybersecurity awareness content through virtual and in-person sessions
- Translate technical cybersecurity concepts (e.g., phishing, ransomware, MFA, data protection) into accessible, practical guidance for non-technical audiences
- Communicate complex security topics clearly and effectively to employees at all levels of the organization
- Manage and support security awareness platforms and learning tools
- Analyze training results and user behavior data to develop metrics and reporting
- Continuously improve training content based on metrics, emerging threats, and organizational needs
- Partner with IT, Security, HR, and Compliance teams to align awareness initiatives with organizational policies and risk management efforts
- Support phishing simulations, awareness campaigns, and cybersecurity events
- Mentor, train, and guide employees to strengthen cybersecurity knowledge and promote a security-first culture
- Collaborate within a small cybersecurity awareness team that supports a broader IT organization
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in cybersecurity awareness, information security, training, or a related field (mid-level experience)
- Experience mentoring, training, or presenting to employees with varying levels of technical knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with confidence presenting to diverse audiences
- Ability to explain technical and cybersecurity concepts in layman’s terms and translate them into actionable guidance
- Experience developing training metrics and measuring program effectiveness
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
