Overview
Seeking an experienced Electric Rates professional
to support electric rate design, analysis, and implementation, with a focus on regulatory filings and proceedings. The ideal candidate will have experience with electric rate design within an investor-owned utility, preferably in California, along with strong Excel skills and experience preparing regulatory testimony.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, analyze, revise, and administer electric tariff schedules.
- Compile, analyze, and maintain rate, revenue, load, and customer data to evaluate existing tariffs and support proposed rate changes.
- Conduct detailed rate analysis and develop financial/rate models to support pricing decisions and regulatory filings.
- Support CPUC regulatory filings and proceedings, including preparing written testimony and responding to data requests.
- Support leaders with mass rate impact and comparison projects, ensuring timely and accurate results.
- Perform standard to complex rate analysis for non-residential customers and develop tailored solutions.
- Review rate change applications for accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment.
- Collect and analyze financial information and operating statistics to inform regulatory strategies.
- Maintain and enhance rate analysis tools, models, and internal calculators.
- Support the development of special contract rates for current and prospective customers.
- Prepare written assessments and present recommendations to leadership and executive-level stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement processes and solutions.
- Identify methodological issues and develop appropriate solutions using professional judgment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Typically 5+ years of related experience in electric rates, rate analysis, pricing, or a similar utility function.
- Previous electric rate design or implementation experience with an investor-owned utility, preferably in California.
- Experience actively participating in or leading regulatory proceedings.
- Experience writing regulatory testimony and responding to regulatory data requests.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience developing and maintaining rate/pricing models.
- Knowledge of integrated rate development, cost allocation, and cost recovery processes.
- Knowledge of regulatory, contractual, and policy requirements affecting electric rates.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Ability to independently manage defined rate analysis workstreams.
- Ability to influence decisions through data-driven analysis and insights.
- Strong business judgment, communication, and negotiation skills.
