Event Specialist I

Location: San Diego, CA (events across Central and Southern California) Pay Range:$22–$27/hr Schedule: Part-time, event-based (minimum 6 events per year) Duration: 1 Year Contract




Our client, a leading Southern California energy utility company, is seeking an Event Specialist I to serve as a brand ambassador at community and promotional events. This is a part-time, flexible role best suited for a student or someone seeking supplemental PT work — open to candidates from all backgrounds. In this role, you will coordinate logistics for corporate and public events, engage directly with customers, and support field marketing initiatives across a 12-county service territory.

Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will manage and support a variety of event and field marketing activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a brand ambassador at community and promotional events to increase awareness, participation, and engagement in company programs and services
  • Interact with customers on-site, providing information and promoting program benefits
  • Support event demonstrations, field marketing activities, and customer engagement initiatives
  • Coordinate logistics for corporate and public events, including vendor relationships and contract negotiation
  • Develop event timelines and production schedules
  • Oversee on-site event setup and breakdown, including transportation of materials (pick-up/drop-off at event locker)
  • Track event budgets and ensure cost efficiency
  • Collaborate with corporate and field marketing teams on customized outreach programs
  • Handle attendee registration and provide customer service
  • Analyze post-event feedback and performance
  • Partner with internal employees, third-party program representatives, and external agencies to increase customer awareness and participation

Essential Job Duties and Job Functions

  • Work on an as-needed basis; hours vary based on event schedule (events range from 4.5 to 8–10 hours)
  • Available for flexible hours, including weekends and occasional weekdays
  • Travel to event locker to pick up/drop off equipment; drive to and from event locations
  • Walk up to 5 miles per day and lift up to 45 pounds as needed
  • Maintain reliable transportation; willingness to transport event materials when required
  • Sign a photo and video release authorization
  • Travel throughout the 12-county service area (Fresno, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare, and Ventura counties); mileage, time, and — for distant events — hotel/meals are expensable

  • Bilingual language skills a plus — Mandarin Chinese preferred; Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, or Tagalog proficiency highly desirable

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of experience preferred in sales, marketing, customer service, promotional marketing, teaching, communications, talent representation, on-camera work, or a related field
  • Previous promotional or event marketing experience preferred
