Instructional Designer
Location:
San Diego, CA (Onsite Monday–Thursday; Remote Fridays, subject to change)
Schedule:
8-hour workdays with a start time of either 6:30 AM or 7:00 AM; ½-hour or 1-hour lunch options available
Duration:
12-month contract (potential for conversion to FTE)
Pay Range:$50–55/hr
Our client is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to manage instructional and performance support projects. This role partners with clients, subject matter experts, and designers to establish project goals, develop project plans, and evaluate outcomes, while applying current research and theory to instructional design best practices.
Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will manage and support a variety of instructional design projects within the Training/Learning & Development department. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing instructional and performance support projects from initiation through completion
- Collaborating with clients, subject matter experts, and designers to establish project goals, timelines, and deliverables
- Monitoring progress against project plans and evaluating results
- Providing work direction to multiple project teams
- Partnering with other departments/organizations to establish training strategies and policies that meet client training and performance improvement needs
- Benchmarking, researching, and developing alternative approaches to performance improvement
- Planning and managing multiple concurrent instructional design projects, including computer-based, management development, and technical training
- Establishing project goals/scope, developing project plans, troubleshooting project issues, and providing guidance to project team members
- Debriefing teams to establish lessons learned
- Applying current research and theory to the practice of instructional design
- Developing and guiding the development of materials supporting content analysis, proposed technologies, delivery methods, and instructional strategies
- Designing and guiding the design of instruction that reflects an understanding of diverse learners and learner groups
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to balance workload and negotiate within the team and with clients on deliverables
- High degree of interpersonal communication skills for consensus building, facilitation, negotiation, counseling, leading, interviewing, and influencing
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Working knowledge of Storyline, Rise, PowerPoint, and Adobe products
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required
