We are seeking a Knowledge Base Migration Specialist to support the migration of an existing knowledge base from a legacy platform to Confluence Cloud. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role requiring strong technical expertise in Confluence to ensure content, structure, and functionality transition smoothly.
The specialist will work closely with the Knowledge and Change Management lead, who is responsible for overall migration strategy, design, and planning, and will collaborate with cross-functional team members throughout the migration effort.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute migration activities from the current knowledge base platform to Confluence Cloud while maintaining content accuracy and functionality
- Convert platform-specific components (such as macros, custom HTML, and widgets) into cloud-compatible solutions
- Create and refine page templates to support usability, consistency, and visual standards
- Optimize page layouts, navigation, and structure to improve user experience
- Apply taxonomy, labeling, and information architecture best practices to enhance content organization
- Utilize built-in Confluence Cloud features and related tools to improve access to information
- Test migrated content and configurations prior to production release
- Implement standard Confluence Cloud functionality to replace or improve existing features
- Apply design and usability best practices to produce clear, user-friendly knowledge pages
- Coordinate with team members to track progress, resolve issues, and meet migration timelines
- Document migration procedures, template standards, and configuration details for future maintenance
Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience with Confluence Server and Confluence Cloud
- Strong knowledge of Confluence macros across both environments
- Deep understanding of Confluence capabilities, limitations, and best practices
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for page formatting and customization
- Experience creating and managing templates to ensure consistent layout and branding
- Strong design and usability skills with the ability to build intuitive, visually clean pages
- Proven problem-solving ability when addressing migration or compatibility challenges
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while incorporating feedback
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Confluence migration tools and migration projects
- Familiarity with native features vs. add-ons, plugins, or extensions in Confluence Cloud
- Knowledge of accessibility guidelines and responsive design principles
