Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant to manage the financial aspects of assigned projects from initiation through completion. The ideal candidate will have strong experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 for project accounting, reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis. This role partners closely with Project Managers, Finance, and Operations to ensure accurate financial tracking, compliance, and profitability analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle project accounting, including setup, budgeting, revenue recognition, and closeout.
- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 to create and maintain project records, Monitor budgets and forecasts, Track costs, billing, and revenue
- Generate financial and performance reports
- Review and approve project-related expenses, timesheets, and vendor invoices.
- Prepare and issue client billings (time & materials, fixed price, and cost-plus).
- Monitor project margins and identify cost overruns or financial risks.
- Perform revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP/IFRS standards.
- Reconcile project accounts, including WIP (Work in Progress) and deferred revenue.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support audits by providing required documentation and financial analysis.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to develop forecasts and financial strategies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual terms, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3–7+ years of project accounting experience.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or Business Central.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606 preferred).
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modelling).
- Experience in construction, engineering, professional services, or government contracting preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- CPA or CMA certification (preferred but not required).
