Job Summary
In this role, you will independently manage and support complex utility-related projects from initial submission through closure. The position requires strong ownership of tasks, proactive coordination across stakeholders, and the ability to oversee project dependencies with minimal oversight. Unlike task-support analyst roles, this position requires full responsibility for assigned commodities, including scheduling, tracking, issue resolution, and delivering project-level insights.
Job Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary owner for assigned project commodities throughout the complete project life cycle—from submission through closure.
- Facilitate internal and external stakeholder meetings, define deliverables, and coordinate schedules to ensure on-time execution.
- Conduct detailed submittal reviews for complex utility project types (e.g., Rule 15), supporting project managers with high-accuracy analysis.
- Independently develop and deliver project updates, reports, and tracking documents to project managers.
- Identify outstanding dependencies and deliverables; schedule work orders with limited oversight when prerequisites are met.
- Participate in customer collaboration meetings, district tactical meetings, and regional grid team discussions, contributing operational insights.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for project support staff, providing guidance, training, and mentorship.
- Resolve project conflicts, delays, and errors by coordinating with internal partners and external stakeholders.
- Perform regular data integrity audits to ensure reporting accuracy across tracking systems and systems of record.
- Maintain accurate notes, records, and documentation as required.
- Apply deep understanding of relevant policies, programs, and procedures related to distribution and/or transmission electrical line construction.
Project Management Support Duties
- Facilitate project-related meetings.
- Conduct documentation and submittal reviews.
- Support project scheduling activities.
- Prepare project reports and status updates.
- Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Job Functions
- Conduct detailed review and validation of project submissions and technical documentation.
- Collaborate closely with project managers to maintain timelines, resolve issues, and ensure task completion.
- Coordinate cross-functional interactions between engineering, construction, and customer operations teams.
- Track project progress, risks, and dependencies using analytical tools and system data.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of project records across multiple platforms.
- Provide process guidance and best-practice mentorship to junior project coordination staff.
- Support utility construction processes by ensuring compliance with established standards and procedures.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), including data manipulation, PowerBI reporting, and use of analytical formulas and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and coordination workflows.
- Working knowledge of utility project processes is highly preferred.
- Ability to identify dependencies, track deliverables, and escalate issues appropriately.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data auditing and documentation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and build productive working relationships.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience reviewing and interpreting data sets in an analytical role.
- Minimum 5 years of project coordination and/or project management experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the utility industry preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with database software (e.g., Access, SAP, or equivalent).
- Advanced proficiency with analytical tools such as Excel formulas, dashboards, and PowerBI.
