Project Engineer II

Pay:$37-42/hr
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the design and construction of utility-scale solar energy projects. This role will manage third-party engineering contractors responsible for developing comprehensive engineering design packages and will support projects from early development through construction and final commissioning.
The ideal candidate has experience working on complex infrastructure or energy projects and is comfortable coordinating across multiple teams and technical disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage third-party engineering contractors responsible for solar project design packages
- Support engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, from concept development through commissioning
- Coordinate with internal teams including environmental, procurement, transmission services, and project management
- Apply value engineering principles to balance reliability, cost efficiency, and system performance
- Monitor engineering schedules, budgets, and technical requirements to support project delivery
- Facilitate collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering teams including electrical, civil, structural, and materials engineering
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant engineering or project management experience
- Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Preferred Experience
- Engineering or project management experience with utility-scale solar projects
- Experience with distributed generation (DG) or commercial solar
Experience in other energy or infrastructure sectors may also be considered, including:
- Wind energy
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Combined cycle power plants
- Nuclear or hydrogen
- Substations or transmission infrastructure
