This role requires coordinating build processes, managing configuration, and ensuring smooth communication with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily build activities, including engineering tasks and configuration management for prototype and production builds.
  • Conduct daily build huddles and provide progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Advise management on work-in-progress, material availability, and production issues to ensure personnel, equipment, and materials meet build demands.
  • Review and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) throughout the product lifecycle, including make vs. buy decisions and revision control.
  • Evaluate custom build configurations to meet operational system performance requirements and ensure compatibility of physical, functional, and program interfaces.
  • Collaborate with Design Release Engineers (DREs) to develop prototype assembly instructions and build requirements for new and existing products across all build phases (POC, DV, PV, etc.).
  • Train technicians on assembly instructions, equipment operation, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Track build-related issues using JIRA and resolve them with DREs and prototype teams using 8D problem-solving techniques.
  • Design and assemble prototype build fixtures using CATIA, including creating detailed drawings.
  • Perform torque-to-fail studies to determine required torque values and update assembly and route sheets.
  • Track Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) inventory, including receiving, serializing, inspection, testing, and coordinating rework or conformal coating with relevant teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on, relevant experience.
  • Basic knowledge of low and high voltage safety protocols.
  • Understanding of ESD and cleanroom requirements per ISO standards.
  • Familiarity with standard shop fabrication and assembly tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work under pressure with tight timelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to work effectively across all departments and with customers.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes including manufacturing planning, MRP, Kanban, and JIT.
  • Experience with prototype or high-volume production builds and technician/assembler collaboration.
  • Experience creating work instructions, rework processes, and production-intent processes.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V6 (part design, assembly design, drafting).
  • Positive, proactive attitude.
  • PCBA experience including troubleshooting, inspection per IPC 610, applying/removing conformal coating, soldering, cutting traces, and board population processes.
