Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day build activities and engineering tasks for Electric Power Electronics Conversion products (inverters, onboard chargers, DC-DC converters).
- Lead daily build huddles and provide progress updates to all stakeholders.
- Monitor work-in-progress, material availability, and production issues to ensure personnel, equipment, and materials meet build demand.
- Review Bills of Material (BOM) from development through product lifecycle, including identifying make/buy parts and maintaining revision control.
- Evaluate custom build configurations to meet system performance requirements and ensure compatibility across physical, functional, and program interfaces.
- Collaborate with Design Release Engineers (DREs) to create prototype assembly instructions and build requirements across phases (POC, DV, PV, etc.).
- Train technicians on assembly procedures; operate and troubleshoot equipment used in builds.
- Log build-related issues in JIRA and drive resolution with DREs and prototype teams using 8D problem-solving methods.
- Design prototype assembly aid fixtures using CATIA; create drawings and oversee fixture assembly.
- Conduct torque-to-failure studies to define required manufacturing torque values and update assembly documentation accordingly.
- Track PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) inventory throughout the build and release process, including:
- Logging and assigning serial numbers
- Creating travelers and routing PCBAs through inspection and test
- Coordinating conformal-coating services with suppliers
- Coordinating rework with DREs per DCNs
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of recent hands-on relevant experience
- Basic knowledge of low- and high-voltage safety procedures
- Understanding of ESD and clean-room requirements per ISO standards
- Familiarity with basic shop fabrication and assembly tools
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of supply-chain processes, including manufacturing planning, MRP, Kanban, and Just-in-Time (JIT)
- Experience with prototype or high-volume production builds and collaboration with technicians/assemblers
- Experience creating work instructions, rework procedures, and production-intent processes
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
- Understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Proficiency in CATIA V6 (part design, assembly, drafting)
- Positive, proactive, and team-oriented attitude
- Knowledge of PCBA processes, including:
- Circuit troubleshooting
- Inspection per IPC-610 standards
- Conformal coating removal/application
- Trace cutting, component soldering, and jumper installation per DCNs
