Position Summary
Our client is a leading organization supporting large-scale infrastructure and energy-related projects across multiple technologies and markets. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Estimator II to join the project estimating team. The successful candidate will support the preparation and management of project cost estimates, focusing on accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with organizational goals. This role offers strong growth potential within the field of project estimating and exposure to a broad portfolio of technologies including renewable energy, transmission and distribution, substations, water treatment, telecommunications, hydrogen, pipelines, and fossil generation.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and definitive cost estimates for new and existing projects
- Perform conceptual engineering design and develop preliminary construction plans to support estimating activities
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather and analyze project documentation
- Conduct value engineering analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project requirements
- Develop and maintain estimation tools, databases, and methodologies to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency
- Conduct risk assessments and support contingency planning for project uncertainties
- Present cost estimates and recommendations to management, stakeholders, and clients
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
- Track project costs and variances throughout the project lifecycle and update estimates as needed
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment with occasional travel to project sites as needed
Education & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability to work in a standard office environment
- Eagerness to learn and grow professionally within project estimating
Preferred
- Internship or practical experience in construction management, engineering, or a related field
- Experience with cost estimation software such as PlanSwift, WinEst, CostX, or similar tools
- Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera P6
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Understanding of estimating principles and cost analysis methodologies
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders
