Project Manager – Early-Stage Solar Engineering & Construction

Position Overview

This role supports early-stage activities for a portfolio of Solar projects within an Engineering & Construction (E&C) environment. Working largely independently, the Project Manager collaborates closely with regional leadership to guide projects through initial development phases, ensuring technical feasibility, commercial alignment, and financial viability before transitioning to late-stage project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a portfolio of early-stage Solar projects through screening, due diligence, and early development processes in preparation for handoff to late-stage teams.
  • Leverage technical, commercial, and financial expertise to guide project decisions and support broader business objectives.
  • Analyze technical and financial data, identify key indicators, and incorporate market trends into project planning and strategy.
  • Maintain full ownership of day-to-day project execution, ensuring each project meets technical, schedule, commercial, and financial requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal subject-matter experts, support permitting and development activities, engage engineering partners, and lead resolution of project-related challenges.
  • Develop and manage capital budgets for individual projects and balance variances across the broader portfolio.
  • Create and maintain project plans, schedules, and supporting documentation; contribute to contract negotiation and execution.
  • Utilize software tools and data systems to manage project deliverables, track metrics, and report progress.
  • Support process improvements, tool development, and training efforts within the Early-Stage team.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, suppliers, regulatory agencies, community stakeholders, and cross-functional partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, energy, or solar project environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Strong financial and data analysis skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude or interest in understanding technical variables.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing high-volume, fast-paced workloads.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
