JOB TITLE: R&D Scientist – Protein & Process Analytics

LOCATION: Slough, UK

SCHEDULE: Standard Office Hours

DURATION: 12-Month Contract

PAY: 20-23 £ per hour


Job Overview

This laboratory-based role involves supporting multiple projects within a collaborative analytical sciences team. The position focuses on performing and developing analytical methods used in protein analysis, with a strong emphasis on HPLC and electrophoresis-based techniques.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on laboratory experience, a solid understanding of analytical methods, and excellent teamwork and communication skills.



Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform experimental work, analyze data, and report results to senior scientists.
  • Plan and execute assigned tasks within project timelines.
  • Liaise with scientists and project leads to review assay performance and outcomes.
  • Interpret analytical data, identify trends, and evaluate results against specifications.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and technical issues to supervisors and project leads.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, stock levels, and equipment readiness.
  • Complete required documentation, including electronic lab notebooks and administrative reports.

  • Experiment planning & documentation:~10%
  • Lab maintenance & ordering:~15%
  • Administrative tasks (e.g., timesheets, meetings):~5%



Training & Development

A structured training plan will be provided. The successful candidate is expected to be effectively supporting Protein & Process Analytics activities within approximately two months of onboarding.


Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Practical experience with analytical techniques such as:
    • HPLC(e.g., size exclusion chromatography)
    • Electrophoresis(e.g., CE SDS, icIEF)
  • Knowledge of LC-MS/MS methods (Proteomics, Metabolomics, or Lipidomics) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, data analysis, and team collaboration skills.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
