JOB TITLE: Right of Way Lease Analyst

LOCATION: Houston, TX (Onsite)

SCHEDULE: Standard business hours

DURATION: 12-month contract

PAY: 30-35 USD per hour


Job Responsibilities:

In this role, you will support land administration activities by managing lease payments, interpreting agreements, and ensuring compliance with land contracts. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing lease payment processes, including:

    o Reviewing and interpreting lease agreements (surface leases, ROWs, easements)

    o Processing periodic payments accurately and on time

    o Calculating CPI adjustments and ensuring payment compliance

    o Supporting lease renewals and terminations
  • Maintaining and updating land and lease records in internal systems
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with Land, Accounting, Legal, Operations, and other teams
  • Utilizing mapping tools to support land and pipeline visualization
  • Ensuring audit readiness and proper documentation of all lease activities


    Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Review and interpret lease agreements to understand payment obligations and land use terms
  • Process lease payments in accordance with contractual terms to avoid discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate lease records, including payment schedules, key dates, and land descriptions
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth operations
  • Utilize tools such as Google Earth and ArcGIS to analyze land parcels and rights-of-way
  • Prepare lease renewals and terminations, including coordination with external agencies
  • Research pipeline and facility data to support payment calculations and reporting
  • Handle ownership changes and respond to payment-related inquiries
  • Maintain both physical and digital lease files for reporting and audit purposes
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements


    Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong communication skills with a proactive and inquisitive approach
  • Solid understanding of midstream land terminology (surface, ROW, easements)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data reconciliation)
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple systems and priorities simultaneously
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial and contract-related tasks
  • Strong problem-solving skills for resolving complex discrepancies
  • Ability to follow direction and execute tasks with precision
  • Comfortable working in a cross-functional, collaborative environment


    Technical Skills:

  • Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, data analysis, reconciliation)
  • Google Earth
  • ArcGIS

    Additional Tools / Experience:
  • Quorum Land System (preferred)
  • Oracle systems (preferred)
  • Land management databases and systems


    Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience in:

    • Land administration
    • Lease/contract management
    • Accounts payable or related field
  • Experience with midstream energy land agreements preferred
  • Familiarity with ROW, easements, and surface lease structures
  • Professional affiliations (AAPL, IRWA) are a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and learning
