POSITION SUMMARY
Our client, a major investor-owned electric utility in California, is seeking a Safety Management System (SMS) Analyst to support the implementation of safety projects and initiatives within their Edison Safety division. The SMS provides a repeatable framework that leverages worker and leader engagement to proactively identify safety risks, develop mitigation strategies, and drive continual improvement across the organisation.
This role will contribute across four core SMS workstreams: Risk Management, Management of Change (MoC), Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), and Human Organisational Performance (HOP).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support peers with SMS implementation, including tracking, presenting, and analysing complex safety data
- Analyse data within risk, MoC, and QA/QC applications including Excel, Enablon, and PowerBI
- Identify and escalate safety issues to management as appropriate
- Apply process adjustments and improvements based on findings from risk, MoC, and QA/QC activities
- Contribute to the continual improvement of the Safety Management System framework
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant professional, business, or technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Candidates will typically have five to seven years of combined experience performing or supervising a related function.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently
- Proven experience leading teams through process execution and deliverable management
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, including pivot tables and charts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience presenting to and communicating with senior leaders and executives
- Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) frameworks
- Previous experience working within an electric utility environment
