Senior Project Manager (Interconnection Services)

Duration: 12-month contract

Pay:$45-49/hr




The Senior Project Manager (Interconnection Services) leads generator interconnection activities across regional transmission markets, overseeing projects from development through construction. This role collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders, including ISOs, RTOs, and transmission providers, to manage applications, technical studies, and agreements, ensuring timely and compliant interconnections.




As a subject matter expert, the Senior Project Manager provides technical guidance for new projects, acquisitions, and greenfield development, supporting strategic growth initiatives while resolving complex transmission and interconnection challenges.

Key Skills

  • Strong power systems background with knowledge of transmission planning and NERC reliability standards
  • Experience with steady-state thermal/voltage, short-circuit, and transient stability analysis using tools such as PSS®E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, TSAT, or ASPEN
  • Understanding of ISO/RTO and transmission planning processes, including reliability planning and interconnection studies
  • Ability to coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts on complex technical evaluations
  • Knowledge of transmission policy, regulatory requirements, and interconnection standards
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey technical information to stakeholders and leadership
  • Ability to develop solutions for technical transmission and interconnection challenges for both development projects and existing assets

Responsibilities

  • Manage the generator interconnection application process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and timelines
  • Coordinate with internal teams, ISOs/RTOs, developers, and utility companies to facilitate seamless interconnections
  • Develop strategies to optimize the interconnection process
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory updates, and technology changes to inform strategic planning
  • Support due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships, and greenfield projects
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred
  • Experience working with ISOs, RTOs, or utilities on generator or load interconnection, study methodology, and transmission planning
  • Familiarity with interconnection agreements, grid reliability, and industry best practices
  • Experience in MISO, SPP, or similar regional transmission markets preferred
