Our client, a leading automotive technology company, is seeking a Sr. Electronics Lab Technician to perform functional acceptance testing of circuit board assemblies and power electronic units. This role supports development and validation testing of high-voltage automotive power electronic components, along with fabricating special test equipment, electronic test boxes, and harnesses. The position is based on-site at the client's Torrance, CA facility and reports to the Lab Operations Supervisor.
Job Responsibilities: In this role, you will manage and support a variety of projects within the Lab Operations department. Key responsibilities include:
Essential Job Duties and Job Functions:
- Fabricate special test equipment, electronic test boxes, and harnesses
- Design and fabricate simple mechanical fixtures and jigs
- Perform functional acceptance testing of circuit board assemblies and power electronic units following defined test procedures
- Support development and validation testing of high-voltage automotive power electronic components
- Troubleshoot, root cause, and document electronic assembly issues
- Work safely on high-voltage (1kV), high-current units
- Perform printed circuit board assembly modifications, including component rework and soldering/de-soldering of electronic components
- Procure necessary tools, equipment, and components for prototype builds
- Set up and utilize standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, and digital multimeters with no direction
- Use instrumentation such as thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure gauges, and flow meters
- Capture test data and create reports using Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, etc.)
- Maintain good housekeeping and safe practices
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to read electrical schematics and use manufacturers' product data sheets
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills for electronic assemblies
- Hands-on experience with PCB assembly, rework, and soldering/de-soldering
- Comfortable working independently with high-voltage, high-current systems
- Proficiency with standard lab test equipment and instrumentation
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, etc.)
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Prior experience in an electronics lab or test environment, ideally within automotive or power electronics
