Job Overview
The Senior Project Management Consultant leads and coordinates early-stage development activities for multiple Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role manages cross-functional teams, optimizes project feasibility, supports financial modeling and contract negotiations, and ensures projects are fully ready to transition to construction.
You will oversee several projects simultaneously, each at different development stages, working closely with Development, Engineering, Estimating, Supply Chain, Environmental, Regulatory, and Construction groups.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Leadership
- Lead daily coordination of highly matrixed development teams.
- Ensure all project stakeholders focus on the right priorities to meet schedule.
- Identify and integrate environmental, regulatory, cultural, land, and interconnection requirements.
- Develop technical project scopes and optimize variables for technical + financial feasibility.
- Support PPA and GIA negotiations.
Technical & Financial Support
- Coordinate engineering, estimating, and procurement needs.
- Support the development of engineering designs and financial models.
- Use market data to validate and improve project economics.
- Present financial models for executive review and manage approval processes.
Commercial & Contracting
- Strategic sourcing and negotiation of contracts (geotechnical, survey, engineering, EPC/PC).
- Ensure E&C interests are represented throughout project development.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Present progress, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, local officials, landowners, and community stakeholders.
- Travel as needed to support site assessments or public hearings.
Construction Readiness
- Ensure all development work aligns with construction needs.
- Deliver a fully executable plan to the Construction Project Manager.
Field & Oversight Duties (as assigned)
- Evaluate productivity, schedule compliance, safety, and work quality.
- Participate in walkdowns, validate work completion, review contractor payment requests.
- Support budget oversight, issue resolution, performance reporting, and scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Construction Management, Finance/Accounting (alongside Engineering experience)
- 0–5 years experience in project management, engineering, or construction
- Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple large-scale technical projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in renewable energy, battery storage, or electricity markets
- PMP certification
- Advanced Excel modeling skills
