2-3 month contract, possible extension
Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled contract Research Technician/Scientist to provide temporary support for our laboratory operations for a duration of 2-3 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing a range of molecular, biochemical, and cellular assays to support ongoing in vivo and in vitro studies. This is an ideal role for an individual with proven hands-on laboratory experience looking for a focused, short-term contract.
Responsibilities
The contractor will be responsible for independently executing experiments within the following core areas:
- Tissue Processing and Molecular Analysis:
- Processing human and mouse tissue samples for downstream analysis (histology, molecular analysis)
- Performing molecular analyses on processed tissue, which may include RNA/DNA extraction, protein extraction for evaluation (e.g. WES, Western blotting, enzymatic assays)
- Immunoassays: measuring markers in plasma from in vivo studies (e.g. MSD, ELISA)
- Cell Culture and In Vitro Assays:
- Maintaining and working with primary cells and established cell lines (e.g. endothelial cells, fibroblasts, MSC)
- Evaluate cell signaling pathways (e.g. phosphorylation assays by WB/WES)
- Analyzing transcriptional profiles using molecular techniques (e.g. qPCR, RNAseq)
- Performing functional cellular assays, including:
- Proliferation/Viability assays
- Migration assays (e.g. scratch assays, Transwell)
- Angiogenesis/Tube Formation assays using endothelial cells
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field
- Proven, hands-on experience (typically 2+ years) working in an academic or industry laboratory setting
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture (primary and cell line maintenance)
- Extensive experience with immunoassays (ELISA and/or Meso Scale Discovery-MSD) is required
- Molecular biology techniques (qPCR, protein analysis)
- Experience with tissue processing (e.g. homogenization, fixation)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent record-keeping and data analysis skills
