Test Technician (Durability / Hydraulic Testing)

Shift Availability:
-2nd Shift:
4:00 PM – 12:30 AM (30-minute non-billable lunch)
OR
-3rd Shift:
12:00 AM – 8:30 AM (30-minute non-billable lunch)
Schedule
- Monday–Friday standard schedule
- Overtime may be required on weekends based on business needs
- Must be available for any requested weekend overtime
Additional Requirements
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required (limited driving within facility may be necessary)
Job Summary
The Test Technician plays a critical hands-on role in ensuring the structural integrity and long-term durability of electric vehicle components. This position supports durability and test engineering teams through the execution of hydraulic testing, detailed inspections, and management of sensitive test instrumentation. The technician serves as the on-site point of observation, ensuring accurate data collection that supports safe and reliable vehicle performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee hydraulic test equipment and manage test inspections and sample changeovers between cycles
- Start and stop hydraulic test systems as required
- Perform detailed inspections of components for hairline cracks, wear patterns, and signs of structural fatigue
- Maintain accurate and thorough test documentation to ensure data integrity
- Change over test samples and fixtures between test phases
- Collaborate closely with durability engineers and test teams to understand test requirements
- Assist with sensor selection and placement for testing instrumentation
- Clean instrumentation sensors and perform general or preventative maintenance on lab equipment
- Manage general lab upkeep and maintain accurate inventory of test and non-test components
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year experience in a technician-level role or equivalent hands-on training (shop, lab, or mechanical environment)
- Strong observational and inspection skills
- Basic mechanical and fabrication abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering specifications
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team
- Fast learner with a proactive, self-motivated work ethic
