Transmission Line Principal Engineer
Location: Juno Beach, FL

Pay Rate: $47-52/hr
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the design of transmission line projects for wind, solar, battery energy storage, and stand-alone transmission systems. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing transmission line design from early-stage development through construction and commissioning
- Directing engineering consultants responsible for transmission line design work
- Supporting early-stage project development, including scope definition and requirements with project managers and development teams
- Supporting competitive transmission proposals (FERC 1000) and greenfield projects for NEER affiliates
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop scope of work and secure engineering consulting resources through approved suppliers
- Solicit bids, evaluate proposals, and award engineering and related contracts via Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) processes
- Coordinate routing, permitting, and technical data collection for transmission line design (geotechnical, LiDAR, survey data)
- Manage coordination of engineering and construction stakeholders across multiple project phases
- Support cost estimating teams with scope assumptions and technical inputs
- Oversee development of engineering deliverables including:
- Issued for Bid (IFB) drawings
- Issued for Procurement (IFP) packages
- Issued for Construction (IFC) packages
- As-built drawings and design documentation
- Contribute to RFPs and competitive proposal submissions
- Provide project updates, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies to leadership and stakeholders
- Present technical progress and project status to internal and external stakeholders
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Strong understanding of high-voltage transmission line design and construction
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings including:
- One-line diagrams
- Three-line diagrams
- Plan and profile drawings
- General arrangements
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform value engineering and ensure design quality
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines
- Proficiency with engineering and project tools such as:
- PLS-CADD
- AutoCAD
- Primavera
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong business acumen and decision-making capability
- Willingness to travel within North America
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering required
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in high-voltage transmission line design, engineering, development, and construction
- Experience in project engineering or project management preferred
- PMP certification and/or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus
- Strong preference for candidates with utility-scale transmission experience (wind, solar, BESS integration)
